Let's Be Human

Can I be honest with you?

I’m tired of the perfect, polished, overly edited versions of ourselves.
This world is quickly promoting flawlessness. In our faces, bodies, lifestyles, even our food needs to look perfect online now.

And while these amazing, beautiful images are everywhere now… who knew perfection could be so boring?

Now I’m searching for something raw. Something real. Something that hasn’t been manipulated and edited a thousand times before being presented to the world.

I acknowledge the need for perfection in some areas of our lives – your product, brand, the numbers you need to crunch, the art that you want to put out there.

But I think we just need to be reminded that our lives don’t have to be perfect. And you don’t need that pressure on yourself. Because being human isn’t about that.

I’ve been learning that being human is all about the messy, inconsistencies of life. It’s the insecurities that we feel, and our contradicting behaviors, that make us human.

I’m going to be 100% real with you. Even when I talk about being authentic, I still find myself lacking in this department. Sometimes I question myself,  “Could my conscious efforts to show the world how ‘passionate’ I am about authenticity, actually be inauthentic in itself?”

But then again, is it ‘inauthenticity’? Or just being human?

There are plenty of times when I contradict myself.

I usually post healthy vegetable dishes on IG, but hide the times when I binge on sugar (ice cream, cake, muffins) – I know, I’m working on it.

I want to be a source of love to everyone around me, but sometimes I can’t help but roll my eyes when someone goes against my beliefs and what I hold true for myself.

And I have to remind myself that it’s okay, because it’s all part of this human life. Let’s stop being too hard on ourselves.

“Human as F*ck is about being honest about where we are being hypocritical, where we’re still really struggling ourselves in an area where we claim to have nailed it.” – Peta Kelly

The power of our magic is nothing without our messy humanness.

Love you, magical human!
